Companies: Here’s a device that fits in your pocket, contains all the world’s information, and connects to almost everyone in the world
Boomers: Why are you on that phone?!

Very interesting. Really does make me want to get an old Motorola Razor and have a non- smart phone again

Most of those images, though, were of people doing things on smartphones they could never have practically done otherwise. Why would you want to go back?

I keep telling myself my next phone will be a Nokia 3310. Maybe I’ll actually go through with it someday.

Disconnecting and going back to basics can be a very powerful and pleasant thing. And while I agree some of the pictures show things that could not be done without smartphones, most of them can be done . It would just require learning a skill and more manual work. Both are not bad.
For each good thing smartphones bring they also bring bad things into the world. Like self-absorbed people posing with duckfaces for likes on Instagram :D.

Can you even use those on modern nextworks?

Because I would like to still be able to contact people incase of an emergency , but also be able to just put the smart phone away, throw my sim in an old flip and disappear .

Smartphones are the greatest thing man has ever invented. Smartphones are the worst thing man has ever invented.

I miss the days when a phone was just that - a phone. If you wanted directions, you printed them out. If you needed local directions, you’d talk to the locals, maybe make a friend in the area.
It was a different time...

And and all of them are holding the phone in the wrong orientation. SMH.

How do we know that guy is taking a selfie? He could be using the SkyView app to figure out what stars/planets he’s looking at...

Hi guys!
Just taking a break from hunting. No smartphone but you can reach me at 156.475MHz if you’re within a couple miles.

I keep seeing ads on instagram for something called “The Light Phone”. Check it out...appealing, but I wish it had some form of map capability. One of the few aspects of a modern smartphone that is truly useful. I’m not one of those people who uses a map app to drive to the local grocery store, I believe in learning your surroundings and roads around you...but it’s absolutely helpful when you’re out and about and just need to get somewhere or travelling through a new area.

Motorola brought the Razr back as a smartphone with a folding screen on the inside. They’re already on the second version . It’s...not cheap.

Yeah, but I don’t want that. I want the old flip phone

Absolutely. Hoping this stops being such a niche and more brands start playing in this space - shouldn’t be tough to achieve (to literally give us LESS) for a reasonable price, when you can already buy even a pretty damn well specced smartphone for $300 or so brand new.
